La hermosa fachada de la universidad esconde un patio de doble arcada que albergo hasta mediados del diecinueve a los estudiantes de medicina, derecho, filosofia y teologia. En la actualidad, el noble edificio se prepara para albergar una de las primeras hospederias de Castilla y Leon. La plaza es el rompeolas de la vida burgense. Entre la plaza Mayor y la de San Pedro discurre el tramo mas noble de la calle Mayor. La visita a la catedral supone un recorrido artistico desde sus vestigios romanicos hasta el esplendor neoclasico, que se concentra en los añadidos de la cabecera. El interior es de tres naves y en el destacan el retablo mayor, obra de Juni; el sepulcro gotico policromado del milagrero San Pedro de Osma, que cura a un enfermo con un pez sacado del Duero; el claustro renacentista; y el conjunto neoclasico de la cabecera. Alli se encuentra la mayor concentracion boscosa de confieras de la peninsula formada por pinos silvestres y negrales, restos de vegetacion de las ultimas glaciaciones acontecidas hace 12.000 años y ejemplares gigantes de robledales, entre otros tipos de vegetacion.
